When out in public, she is the image of perfection: she is beautiful, kind, gentle, elegant, talented, and intelligent. Wherever she goes, she earns the admiration or envy of others, and in this form, she is drawn as constantly sparkling, showing the effect she has on others. However, once she gets home, she drops this perfect persona, literally shrinking down to chibi size, and indulges her own desires, spending all day lazing about watching anime and playing video games and letting her older brother Taihei do all the work. While in this form, she wears a hamster hoodie/cape. The way she talks is also radically different. When out in public she rarely raises her voice and maintains a calm demeanor. At home, she is prone to excitedly shouting and even throwing temper tantrums when things don't go her way. Umaru is a closet otaku, she does her best to keep her indoor persona a secret, going to great lengths to prevent others from finding out, and often gets Taihei to buy manga for her. When the subject of anime/manga/video games comes up, she significantly downplays the extent of her knowledge. When she does something related to her hobbies in public, such as go to arcade, she wears a hat and changes her hairstyle, going by the persona UMR, so as not to be recognized. Her UMR persona is drawn the same way as her public persona except for the hat and hairstyle. Umaru's two personas are so radically different that when her classmate Kirie Motoba spots Umaru acting as her 'indoor' self, she assumes Indoor Umaru is Umaru's younger sister, an incorrect assumption that Umaru goes along with, calling her 'sister' Komaru, to keep her indoor self a secret. Her favorite drink is cola, which she always drinks when she's indulging in her hobbies. She is voiced by Tanaka_Aimi in her first lead role.
